About Marnie

I am a former go-go dancer, speed dating host, and 2016 PEN Center USA Emerging Voices Fellow. I took self-portraits at NYU before the age of selfie, before trading the four seasons for canyon dwelling underneath the Hollywood sign.

Creative nonfiction hybrid writer. Mixed media artist. Public speaker for anti-sexual assault organizations. Closet poet. Mermaid. Creative nonfiction editor at Angels Flight・literary west and a co-founder of the women’s writing group, The Dimes, which speaks to groups about accessing opportunities as new writers.

Recently completed a memoir, Birth Marks, about my experience as an adoptee illegally sold to a family by an infamous baby broker, and am at work on a second memoir, Chewing Gravel, and a book of fiction.
