About Nick

I graduated from Southern Methodist University’s cinema-television program in 2006 with a directed studies in screenwriting. In 2010, after falling in love with the LA Weekly during a time in Los Angeles, I sought a job at the Dallas Observer, an alt-weekly in the same Voice Media chain. I became Web Editor in 2010, and worked to build their food, music, art, and news blogs.

In 2013, I began work at SMU’s Meadows School of the Arts in Dallas (currently Director of Marketing), and regularly freelance with the Dallas Observer and Thrillist Dallas. My work’s been in print and online with the Dallas Observer, LA Weekly, Village Voice, Thrillist, and a really cool film site called Bright Wall / Dark Room. Very excited to contribute to Popularium.

The score thumps: a primal leg stomp, like a slowing heartbeat. A friend reaches over and places two comforting hands on my shoulders, as if the movie is a projection of what’s going on in my head.

We had whiskeys and played pool. I was unplugged, just like the guitar duo that was on the Hot Fack stage: Two heavyset twins that went by the name WHISKEY COCK. They were incredible.
