Dear Titus,
I have not forgotten my debt to you, any more than I have forgotten your meat-clubs of hands. Question: How do you write with two thumbs?
More seriously, I have given your petition much thought, and I’m going to investigate convening a meeting to address the potential repercussions of indiscriminate and violative shard harvesting on Vespersa. And the only venue I think capable of hosting such a gathering is the planet Altareth.
As a trade world, it harbors no bias or preference to other worlds or races, and its indigenous people—the Brillouin—might welcome the opportunity, as it would boost commerce and impart some added prestige to a world known sometimes for its duplicity.
What’s more, travelers to Altareth could rest assured that governance on Altareth is not given to extradition of the less-than-lawful brokers and agents (read as: shard-scum) who will no doubt find their way to this meeting in hopes of gathering information to their advantage.
More importantly, Altareth would have ready access to any and all materials that might be necessary to establish a source of training and outfitting of a more right-minded sort of broker and agent.
I still have work to do put this all in place—no announcement just yet—but you should be there. I recommend you find a pretense to make your way to Altareth so that you are available as soon as the announcement is made.
Also, you may now consider us even, meat-hands notwithstanding.
Yours in mind,
Dusana
